2016: Obama's America

"2016: Obama's America" proposes an explanatory and predictive framework--that is, a positive model--for ordering phenomena. I was asked afterwards if I thought the movie proved its thesis that President Obama embraced, and is driven by, his mommy and especially daddy's anti-colonialist beliefs. In terms of scientific proof, of course not. The movie proposes a hypothesis; it doesn't present the findings of a study.
 

In terms of explanatory and predictive power, the hypothesis is surprisingly utile, however. It provides a hermeneutic for explaining the President's actions in the middle east, elsewhere and domestically. It provides a basis for making plausible predictions.

It explores facts about the President's formative associations that the media has suppressed. That these associations are conclusive cannot be established. That they are relevant cannot be fairly denied.

The burden is on those who think the movie is lacking to provide a more plausible hypothesis than anti-colonialist ideology. Why does the President act the way he does regarding the middle east and Africa, offshore drilling, deficits and debt to name a few of the movie's foci?

The movie incorporates revealing excerpts of the President reading from his own autobiography.  Love him or hate him, you'll know Barack Obama better after viewing the documentary.
 

Many have referred to the movie as disturbing. Honestly, I was relieved that somebody laid it out so clearly for the electorate. It also made me thankful to live in a country where even politically incorrect political opposition can lay out its case so directly and publicly before a critical election.
